LULU 1976 HOUSTON GRAND OPERA

An Opera by ALBAN BERG

Ann Holmes, Houston Chronicle

Their creation is a many-layered event in which all the live stage action occurs behind a scrim while simultaneously filmed scenes of the actors drive home the narrative with more vigor and flexibility than the stage would allow. Over and under these impressions merged visions of nude bodies flowing and fusing. The film serves to suggest the lusting subconscious coursing beneath the debased occurrences onstage.
