GRAY PARIS 2007

During his life, Chase has visited Paris some 40 times and considers it central to his aesthetic ideas in photography.  With many later trips he concentrated on certain visual motifs.  In these photographs emptiness and a lingering sorrow reflect one side of the city.

Another aspect of Paris Chase has always found fascinating, are the simple moments when one stops because the eye is arrested in the moment. These moments always come as surprises- but they are often elegant in an offbeat, meditative way.

Another aspect of Paris is the way street life and commerce made blending outside and inside images together easier. The reflections on glass windows carefully arranged meant these two worlds often seamlessly blend.
