WORK ON PAPER   2010 - 2015

Chase began working in 2011 -2012 with enormous energy,  one of the most prolific periods of his life.  Much of the work was on paper and much of it went in new directions for him. A large series of grids made of cut paper as the painting surface explored the past interest he had in specimen,  but new two dimensional collages with the subject centered in large negative spaces were also dominate.

THE WHITES 2014

This series of collage uses overlapping elements of texture, calligraphy, silk papers from Japan and watercolor, tucked and dovetailed to create the feeling of sculptural shapes.  Central to this concept is the use of white space to frame them.
