All the action is played out behind a convex scrim on which Mr. Chase's films and projections are seen in constant kaleidoscopic flow. Forests, rushing streams, sunbursts through trees, black storm clouds, and such images flow past, some reminiscent of Ingmar Bergman or ''Elvira Madigan'' cliches.
