FREE ART   A sequence on KQED

In the summer of 2014 Ronald Chase decided to clean out portfolios that had collected of work on paper.  There were hundreds of works, the studio was being overwhelmed.  What to do? Why not offer them to people who might not be able to afford original works, to encourage them to explore collecting?  The art market had become unapproachable for many, and so Chase, on a Saturday in August gave away hundreds of works on paper.  It only took four hours.
