CHARDIN SERIES 1993
Chase had always admired the quiet, solid simplicity of the still-lifes of Jean-Baptiste Chardin (1699-1779). He began a series objects that are placed on painted surfaces which reflect the type of simplicity inspired by the French painter. His prosaic subject matter remains central to these visual ideas.
